Faunne Brown - STEM Curriculums, Hands-On Learning

My name is Faunne V. Brown, and I currently teach physics at Lausanne Collegiate School, an independent school in Memphis, TN. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Memphis and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
My first career was as a rehabilitation engineer with Louisiana Tech University, and took me to New Orleans where I researched and developed assistive technology devices for clients with a broad range of disabilities. I have taught a variety of physics and science courses over the past 19 years including AP Physics B and C, Honors Physics, IB Physics and Engineering Design. I have served as both a science department head and a STEM leader while originating, revising and maintaining a Pre-K through 12th grade, integrated STEM curriculum. I also consult for the science company CPO (Cambridge Physics Outlet: School Specialty) training primarily middle and upper school STEM teachers using a variety of laboratory equipment as well as common classroom objects.
I specialize as a curriculum writer and site-based workshop leader for teachers seeking creative approaches to innovative, engaging, hands-on learning in all STEM fields. Participants are presented with a wealth of resources, worked examples, and sample lessons available for immediate classroom implementation. In general, I seek to promote STEM education for students in an effort to increase enrollment in related fields.

  3. Imaginative Character: Lausanne Learning Mentors are expert and thus can imagine different answers as you interrogate the key question or questions that you are being asked
  4. Independent Character: Lausanne Learning Mentors ensure that their clients become independent of them over time, not co-dependent
  5. Fearless Character: Lausanne Learning Mentors won’t tell their clients what they want to hear but what, in their professional opinion, should be said
