LLI Session Types
(10 min Intro/45 min teaching/20 min debrief)
Active Learning Made Visible: An opportunity to teach within a live classroom with students while attendees observe. Presenters provide the philosophy and rationale for the learning process in the first 10 minutes of the session. This will transition to an active 45-minute teaching session with students while attendees observe. After the lesson, the presenter leads a 20-minute debrief. This is an opportunity for presenters to facilitate deeper reflection and discussion among professionals observing the session. Facilitators may also wish to share resources, references, research, and professional literature that have influenced their practice and support the presentation.
Active Learning Sessions
(15 min intro/45 min active learning/15 min reflection)
Hands-on Learning for Educators: Presenters may choose to host a conversation, workshop, or session without students. Presenters are invited to submit proposals on any topic related to innovative or student-centered learning, and we encourage potential presenters to engage their audience in discussion and active learning that goes beyond traditional direct instruction. Topics that stimulate innovative philosophies and practices will engage participants in discussion that extends outside the bounds of traditional direct instruction. Presenters can consider the resources, references, research, and professional literature that have influenced their practice and support the presentation.
